Today is Sunday, Jan. 9, the ninth day of 2022, the BAFA Election Commissioners: Sadique Ahmed, Zubair Rahman, and Shafiqur Rahman, successfully conducted the BAFA Board Election. We express our sincere appreciation to election commissioners. Following are the final results of the BAFA Election for the 2022-2023 Term. BAFA General Election 2022-2023: Call for nominations of candidates
Dear BAFA members,
We are pleased to announce the call for the nomination of candidates in the General Election for the 2022-2023 term. Please submit your application by January 7, 2022, if you are interested in running for any of the following positions:
Positions in Board of Directors:
Title of the position: Director (for the role and benefits of a director, please see Article V and Article VI of the attached BAFA Constitution and Bylaws)
Number of Positions: 9 (there will be an election if the number of candidates is more than 9 positions)
Qualification: A paid member of BAFA (2022-2023 Term). Candidate cannot be existing officials of any other Bangladeshi American organization within the geographical area stated in ARTICLE I §3 of BAFA Constitution and Bylaws. Candidates shall affirm in his/her application that he/she can perform the business of the organization in English and Bengali. Candidate must have continuous membership of at least 3 months prior to the election and must provide names of two references from among the current or previous Board members.

Positions in Advisory Committee:
Title of the position: Advisor (for the role and benefits of an adviser, please see Article VII of the attached BAFA Constitution and Bylaws)
Number of Positions: There is no limit, and there will be no election.
Qualification: A paid member of BAFA (2022-2023 Term). Candidate cannot be existing officials of any other Bangladeshi American organization within the geographical area stated in ARTICLE I §3 of BAFA Constitution and Bylaws. Candidate must have continuous membership of at least 3 months prior to the election and must provide names of two references from among the current or previous Board members.

BAFA appointed Election Commissioners for 2022 - 2023 Term
Dear BAFA members,
BAFA is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Sadique Ahmed, Mr. Zubair Rahman, and Mr. Shafiqur Rahman as the Election Commissioners for its fourth Election. These individuals bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to conduct the Election in a free and fair manner. Please note that Mr. Sadique Ahmed and Mr. Zubair Rahman served as Election Commissioners in BAFA's first Election in 2016. Mr. Shafiqur Rahman served as an Election Commissioner in 2020.
Mr. Sadique Ahmed is a professional engineer. He works at the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation as a Professional Engineer. Mr. Ahmed started his career at Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) as an Assistant Engineer. He obtained his BSc in Agricultural Engineering from Bangladesh Agricultural University. Mr. Ahmed holds an MSc in Water Resources Engineering from the University of Newcastle, UK, and an MS in Computer and Information Systems from the University of Detroit Mercy, Michigan. He has been a resident of Latham since 2005.
Mr. Zubair Rahman completed his undergraduate studies and MBA from the University of Buffalo, New York. Mr. Rahman runs his own tax preparation and multipurpose company, LeadOne Business Services LLC. He used to work as a Senior Auditor for NYS OPWDD. He has served as a Business and Investment Analyst for various major financial institutions since 1998. Mr. Rahman moved to Albany in 2009.
Mr. Shafiqur Rahman is a senior information technology consultant in the New York State Department of Technology (ITS). He graduated from North South University, majoring in Computer Science. Mr. Rahman has many years of experience in the information technology field. He used to work as a senior computer programmer in OSAS, State of New York. He moved to Albany in 2016.
